A Brimhall Fourth of July

One of my absolute favorite things about my in-laws is how they celebrate holidays that involve parades.  I have long since become not much of a fan of them.  In general, the weather is hot and they can get rather monotonous.  But not with the Brimhalls!

Here's the group waiting for the Benson parade to start.
Uncle Derek, cousins Madi, Vivi and Olivia.
This has got to seem like such a contradiction; you spend the rest of the year trying to keep the kids out of the street and then parade days encouraging them to run in after candy.
It was an early morning to get there on time.  Trevy isn't too cooperative with having her hair done these days so I let her celebrate her independence and didn't even try!
Candy, candy, candy.  And Otter Pops!  Whoever thought of that?
Not a bad idea, except when they break from hitting the asphalt.
Kids in action picking up candy.

Believe it or not, Landon was more interested in the parade than accumulating candy.
This sweet gentleman got out of his car to hand-deliver candy to the kids.
"They're too young to be running out for candy."
Thank you, kind sir.
And here's what we love the most - the water balloon wars!
Honestly, we don't pelt everyone.  Just those who bring water balloons themselves or people we know.
The kids go in on the action too.
Well, some got in on a little different action.
The petting zoo?  It's a chicken, if you can't tell.
And these were the trucks they raffled off.  We won the red one.
Okay, just kidding.

Landon wasn't really grumpy.  I think he was just hot and tired.
It takes a brave individual to go out in public...
After the parade, we all headed over to Mom and Dad Brimhall's for the day.  One of the sheep had given birth that morning and the kids loved getting to go see the lamb.
The little cousins had a great time together too.  They slip-n-slided out in the yard but, due to some indencencies on the part of some of the younger individuals, we will not be sharing that video.  Please enjoy this one instead!
And my favorite part of the day.  Landon "feeding" the goat.  So funny!
No naps, but the kids all held out until the fireworks started.  Love this look in Trevy's tired eyes.
She looks like she knows how fortunate she is to live in a country where she has so many freedoms.
Not the greatest picture of Callie.  She did fall asleep not long into the fireworks.
This girl just knows when she's tired.
Landon kept running around and James and I were tired too so didn't work too hard on getting a photo of him.  It was a great day.  I love the Fourth of July and all that it stands for.  A little sad this year as this was actually Timmy's due date and he was still not with us.  But I did get to go to the hospital to be with him.

Great to have a reason to think about the many who have given so much so that we can enjoy the freedom we have.  Happy fourth!
