Yes, Bek, this is a big deal! James graduated from dental school in 2005 and we have been looking for a practice intermittently since 2006. Not a lot of luck. Probably because we couldn't officially decide on where specifically we wanted to end up. It was easy to agree on southern Arizona, but city-wise, not so much.
James has been interested in a couple of practices but things just haven't worked out. Hence the reason for not making an announcement until now. James signed the papers and started working at his own practice two weeks ago. Unfortunately, he still owes time at his current job so he is now working more than full-time so that he can get things going with his own practice. The doctor he purchased from has agreed to continue working a few days a week to keep things running until James has completed his contract and then he will be flying solo. All that will happen around the end of 2010.
We are very excited, a bit nervous and anxious, but eager to make this step in our lives. There has already been a lot more to owning a practice than we ever thought about and this is just the beginning! So many people to work with and so much to coordinate, but I think it will all smooth over pretty quickly. Personally, I'm extremely excited for James to start working 8-5 instead of 7-6!!!
