Soccer Shots

We were able to get Landon and Timmy on the same soccer team this time around.  May be the only time, however, as Landon really should be in the next age group but they let him play with the 3-4 year olds, as he had just turned five.

Just got their soccer photos after Saturday's nail biter!

And the snippet James got of Saturday's game on his phone. I really wish I had taken the iPad.  This game was intense!  When we got out of the car, a little boy walked past us, looking very official in his green soccer shirt tagged with the Corona label.  (Honestly, my first thought was that I would not want  a beer advertisement on my child.) Turned out to be the team our Sonics were playing! Inspite of only being about 4 years old, this team had the finesse and skill of much older players.  Proud to say that our little team did pretty well against them.  Until the very end when you could tell they were all too hot and tired to want to run after the ball anymore and the other team just scored about 4 goals in as many minutes.

Happy to report that Landon scored the first goal of the game. The older boys really did a fabulous job. I think having the other team be as good as they were helped show our kids how to pass the ball because this was the first weekend we ever saw them do that.

(Not to slight Timmy.  He's great entertainment and the cutest thing in a soccer uniform.  Alas, his short little legs just aren't as fast as everyone else's and he really only gets a chance to kick the ball at kickoff or when it happens to come to him.  But he loves wearing his uniform, his "soccer game".  If his cleats happen to be laying on the floor and he sees them, he feels obligated to put them on.)
